St. Thomas More Academy

As high school time arrived for our eldest son, we be became aware of a premise common to other schools.  We didn't like the idea that we would be expected to set aside our Catholic faith and values in order to get an outstanding education.  St. Thomas More Academy is proof that faith and education are inseparable.

St. Thomas More Academy provides the solid moral and educational foundation which many parents look for in a high school.

Our son is very happy with his school...even as he studies college-level work in the 10th grade!

Our son's achievements over the last two years bear testimony to the success of the school's mission, curriculum, and dedication of the faculty.

Our son couldn't be better prepared for adulthood perhaps even if we had chosen to home school him.

Having him attend St. Thomas More Academy is one of the best decisions we have made as parents.

One of our parents said, ‘We have happy teenagers.’  And they are not happy because they get to do what they want.  They are happy because they are challenged, academically and spiritually, in an environment where they can be secure, but can also take risks.

The year that I spent at St. Thomas More Academy was one of the most crucial years of my life.

I came to St. Thomas More Academy extremely introverted and unsure of myself.  The small, friendly environment of St. Thomas More Academy enabled me to overcome much of my shyness and, more importantly, find o
ut who I really was.

In the same way, the small class size made learning much easier as I never felt shy of asking a question in class or going to a teacher for help.

My faith was also challenged at St. Thomas More Academy, but in a positive way; I was continually challenged to go higher and grow in my faith and to always do my best for the glory of God.

The teachers sought to instruct students not only in academic subjects, but also in character formation. They constantly pushed each one of us to put forth our best effort into our work, not just for the sake of seeing a good grade, but for the satisfaction that comes from working hard and knowing that we had done the very best that we could.

I learned many lessons from my experience at St. Thomas More Academy that I know will help me for the rest of my life.

I found as a Theology teacher at St. Thomas More Academy that I was able to present the teachings of my Catholic faith, as found in the Catechism of the Catholic Church, without any reservations to the truth.  In this I was fully supported by those in the Academy's administration and by the families of my students.

This was extremely refreshing for me because often in today's society Church teachings are not only ignored and disregarded, but are widely opposed.  I was able to state openly and honestly the teachings of our Lord and His Church on all issues.  I found this especially important in matters of Church doctrine and Church teachings about family life.

I found the sacramental life of St. Thomas More Academy to be deeply enriching as expressed in both weekly Mass attendance and the opportunities given for receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

In these ways, as well as in the daily prayer life of the school, our Catholic faith became an integral part of student life.

This, I believe, takes into account not only the academic goals of St. Thomas More Academy for its students, but the fundamental and religious origin and purpose of all our lives.

While at St. Thomas More Academy this year I witnessed teachers who displayed the highest of excellence in teaching styles, knowledge of their subject areas, and who, also exemplified patience, caring and concern for each of their individual students.  I saw evidence of this more than I have ever seen before, either as a teacher or a parent, anywhere else in my experience.
