Wesley Kirkpatrick

Wesley Kirkpatrick is St. Thomas More Academy's Dean of Humanities.

Dr. Kirkpatrick was educated at Oxford and Notre Dame. He studied philosophy with several renowned scholars, including Alvin Plantinga and Sir Bernard Williams, and wrote an honors dissertation on the relationship between ethical reflection and literary narrative. He has received numerous academic awards, most recently a Fulbright Memorial Scholarship from the government of Japan.

Dr. Kirkpatrick is well-respected at the Academy for a challenging and interactive teaching style formed during his years on the faculty of Notre Dame's Arts and Letters Core program.

He instructs upper-level courses in philosophy and literature, and facilitates the annual senior seminar.

After converting to Catholicism Dr. Kirkpatrick left academic life for a time to work as a therapist for trauma survivors, and since his return to teaching he continues to provide volunteer counseling services in his community.  He is also a catechist for Eastern Catholic Formation at the Byzantine Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius.
