Andrew de Alvare
Andrew de Alvare, a newcomer to the Raleigh area, is originally from Holland Michigan. He currently teaches Classical History and Classical literature courses at St. Thomas More Academy.
Mr. de Alvare received his B.A. in Classical Studies with a concentration in Latin from Hillsdale College. During his college years he became avidly interested in music theory, composition and musicology, and has since earned a M.M. in Music History from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. His thesis on Romantic Period chamber music that includes the double bass has been warmly received.
In addition to teaching courses on the Classical world, Mr. de Alvare attempts to stay active musically and share his talents for the greater glory of God by planing his double bass and singing with parish choirs.
